After they have had your card number for a month, you can apply to have your payment method changed to some other form of payment.
The last requirement is that your free deal will come with a contract added to it such as you have to sign up with that company for a year or longer for it to be effective. This is to make sure that the equipment given with your free deal will be paid off through your commitment to them. If you already have satellite service, then you can apply for month-to-month type of commitment. You may get a different type of deal with this method, but it's worth a try. These are not bad deals because if you have to buy the equipment up front it could cost you big time bucks. So basically what the providers are doing is offering you your satellite system on payments, which would make it easier on you and may not be such a bad deal after all.
